From The Avenues of Ingersoll & Grand:
As construction of the transformational streetscape project between Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway and 28th Street reaches its final stages, Ingersoll Avenue will turn into a westbound one-way street at 28th Street beginning September 6, 2022.
The eastbound lanes of Ingersoll Avenue between 28th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway will close traffic while crews pave the road. All eastbound traffic will be required to detour south and use Grand Avenue to travel downtown. Work is anticipated to be complete by late October.
All businesses on Ingersoll Avenue between Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway and 28th Street will remain open during the detour. Patrons can access businesses from the westbound lanes.
The Avenues of Ingersoll & Grand would like to thank all community members who have continued to patronize businesses on Ingersoll Avenue during this transformational time. Your patience and support are appreciated! The Avenues has created a webpage dedicated to providing current construction updates and information regarding the projects impacting the Ingersoll & Grand corridors: www.theavenuesdsm.com/moving-forward
ABOUT THE PROJECT: The transformational streetscape project, which began construction in 2020, is necessary to keep the Ingersoll district safe and easy to navigate for all modes of transportation by adding wider sidewalks, landscaping, protected bike lanes, and new on-street parking stalls. The project promotes walkability and accessibility for all, improves stormwater management, and updates public utilities while maintaining the beauty and character of the neighborhood.
